Dimes
Minted from 1871 to 1878

The Carson City Mint struck nearly 21 million dimes between 1871 and 1878. In terms of quantity, this was by far the highest number of pieces of any denomination produced in Carson City.

There are four significant varieties in the nine-year “CC” dime series: the 1873-CC With and Without Arrows varieties, and the 1875-CC Above and Below Bow varieties.

The 1873-CC Without Arrows dime is Unique and stands alone as the rarest coin of any struck at the Carson Mint, and is considered one of the top-ten all-time greatest coins in U.S. history.

The second scarcest date in the series is the 1874-CC, followed by the 1871-CC, 1873-CC With Arrows, and the 1872-CC.

Three dates, 1875-CC, 1876-CC, and 1877-CC account for nearly 99% of the total output of dimes at the Carson City Mint. The Centennial Year 1876-CC tops the list of most pieces produced.

The last-year-of-issue 1878-CC dime is underrated and undervalued as of 2009.
