Although Rusty Goe, the club’s president, will not be able to attend the meeting, we hope that other C4OA members who will be in Anaheim, CA for the ANA convention, will take advantage of the reserved space and meet together for an informal time of sharing and fellowship.
You can share about your favorite “CC” coins or other related topics of interest. One (or more) of you might even want to give a brief presentation about something that has to do with the Carson City Mint and its coins.

]]>The summer 2015 issue of Curry’s Chronicle marks the Carson City Coin Collectors of America’s 10th year in existence. We have proudly published 34 issues of our award-winning journal (with this upcoming issue being #35), and have shared 325 articles with our members. For a 10-year old, I say this is quite an achievement!
We encourage anyone (regular contributors and newbies alike) to submit an article and/or a letter to the editor. Any length! We want you to have your place in our literary celebration. If you already rank on our list of article contributors, thank you! Add another submission on for good measure. Or, if you’ve never submitted a single word to the club, but you’ve always enjoyed being a silent C4OAer—this is your time to shine! Let us know about a collecting experience you’ve had regarding Carson City coins, or perhaps why you joined the club, or what you think about each issue of Curry’s Chronicle.
We know that with 34 issues under our belt, there are still thousands of topics related to the Carson City Mint and the coins produced there. Ever had a nagging question about how the mint operated? Send a letter to the editor and ask it! Ever wanted to share how your grandfather slipped a shiny “CC” silver dollar in your Easter egg hunt? Submit an article about how that event was the catalyst for your “CC” coin collecting hobby!
The deadline for submissions for the summer 2015 issue of Curry’s Chronicle is April 30, 2015. However, if you’re working on something you wish to include, but don’t know if you’ll have it ready in time, let us know—we may be able to hold the deadline open for your submission until the first week of May.
If you have questions about how to submit an article or letter to the editor (or its corresponding images), email me at info@ccccoa.com, and I would be happy to help you.
We look forward to publishing a very special, 10-year anniversary issue of Curry’s Chronicle. Thank you so much for your support of the C4OA, we are honored to be here to help spread the passion those little “CC” mintmarks bring to us.
Maya
]]>We are proud to say that this (34th!) issue of the journal is the kick-off to our year-long 10th anniversary celebration. That’s right, the C4OA is approaching it’s 10th birthday this summer, and we are very happy about how far we’ve come as a club. More info about this achievement can be found in the spring 2015 issue of Curry's Chronicle.
Along with the launch of our 10-year anniversary celebration, the spring 2015 issue marks the start of renewal season. Those of you who have a renewal date of June 30, 2015 should be receiving a white, renewal envelope stuffed in the mailer with your spring 2015 journal. Please use this envelope to pay your dues for the 2015-2016 membership cycle to avoid missing any issues of Curry’s Chronicle. Life members and multi-year members, please disregard this notice.
If you would like to help contribute to our 10-year anniversary celebration, please send us your article or letter to the editor submission. It can be anything from a short thought about the experiences you’ve had as a club member, to a long essay detailing diagnostics about your favorite “CC” coin. Submissions can be sent via email to submissions@ccccoa.com, or by snail mail at CCCCOA, 5032 S. Virginia St., Reno, NV 89502.
Please send text submissions as Word documents, with 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1.5 line spacing. Original image files can be sent to our physical address (above), on CD, DVD, or flash drive. (Please note, images pulled from the internet are very low resolution and are not suitable for print in Curry’s Chronicle.) The submission deadline for the summer 2015 issue of Curry’s Chronicle is April 30, 2015, and the deadline for the fall-winter issue is September 30, 2015.
And please, if you have any questions on our 10-year anniversary celebration, renewal season, or how to submit an article or letter to the editor, feel free to email at members@ccccoa.com, or call us at (775) 322-4455.
]]>Can you believe that our wonderful club is approaching its 10-year birthday?
We are busy at work finalizing 2014 records for C4OA, preparing Balance and Income sheets for inclusion in the spring 2015 issue of Curry's Chronicle, and tidying up our roster and filing system.
The submission deadline for the spring 2014 edition of Curry's Chronicle is right around the corner! Please have your text (article, letter to the editor, announcement, etc.) and image submissions sent in by Saturday, January 31, 2015. We would love to hear about what you thought of articles in the fall-winter 2014 issue of the journal, and any other information you're willing to share with the rest of the membership.
If you need assistance submitting an article or letter to the editor, simply email me (Maya) at info@ccccoa.com, and I'd be glad to help you out.
We hope that everyone had a safe holiday season and New Year's celebration. We can't wait to see what the next 10 years will bring to this club!
Best wishes,

For some of you, the summer 2014 issue is the last issue you will receive if you do not renew your membership in the club. So, if you receive a white renewal envelope stuffed in with your journal, please send in your dues for the 2014-2015 subscription cycle to avoid missing any issues of Curry's Chronicle. Deadline for renewals is June 30, 2014.
If you do not receive your copy of the summer 2014 Curry's Chronicle by the end of June, please contact us at info@ccccoa.com to see about getting a replacement issue.
We're always accepting article and letter to the editor submissions! The deadline for submissions for inclusion in the fall-winter 2014 issue of Curry's Chronicle is September 30, 2014, so if you have something you'd like to share, please email it to us at info@ccccoa.com.
]]>
But, if you don’t think you’re going to make the deadline—don’t worry! Submissions are published on a first-come, first served basis, and if you don’t get it into us in time for this issue, we will simply bump it to the next on (fall-winter 2014).
As you probably know, the Carson City Coin Collectors of America is smack in the middle of renewal seasons. Membership dues have been flying in from Carson City coin enthusiasts who are eager to see what the next subscription cycle has in store for them. If you have not already done so, please send your $30 membership renewal dues to the following address:

We’re looking forward to the thirty-second installment of our award-winning club publication, and we hope you are, too!
We are still looking for article and letter to the editor contributions for the upcoming issue. Please submit any informational or interesting articles you have on the following topics to the club's email address, info@ccccoa.com.
If you have any questions about how to submit an article (or how to submit corresponding images), please contact us by phone at (775) 322-4455 or by email at the address listed above.
We look forward to receiving your submissions!
]]>If you wish to submit an article or a letter to the editor, please send it in a MS Word document to members@ccccoa.com. If you wish to include images with your submission, we would prefer the highest resolution possible (such as .tiff or .psd file types). Since these types of image files are too large to attach to emails, we request that you submit them on a CD, and send them to CCCCOA, 5032 S. Virginia St., Reno, NV 89502. (If you need more information about submissions, please contact us at the email address above, or call us at 775-322-4455.)
We will look forward to receiving your submissions, and hearing your thoughts on our past issues, club events, and anything else to do with our beloved little “CC” mintmark.
We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and New Year!
]]>The journal is currently at the printers, and is scheduled to be mailed out in the first two weeks of November 2013. If you don't receive your copy by the first week of December, please email the membership services account (members@ccccoa.com) and we will look into the issue.
Please check the Non-Renewal Roster located in this edition. If you know someone on the list, contact them about rejoining the Carson City Coin Collectors of America!
Also featured in this journal are summaries of all of the articles featured in Curry's Chronicle in 2013, as well as a roster of all the article authors for all 30 issues to date.
This journal has something for everyone, and I hope you enjoy it!
]]>A big thank-you to those C4OA members who were able to journey out to Carson City last week (August 23, 2013) to attend the Carson City Coin Collectors of America Regional Meeting. If you were unable to attend the regional meeting this past Friday, you surely missed out. Club meetings are what C4OAers look forward to most, besides their beloved Curry’s Chronicle issues arriving in the mail.

]]>A historian named Gilman Ostrander wrote a book about Nevada. He told in the introduction, how he had spent many months in the researching and writing of it. He said he sent his finished manuscript to two scholars for review. He thanked them for their “politely written critiques [which had] rescued [me] from my ignorance in many places.” In spite of all his painstaking research and the high goals he had set for himself for accuracy, he still had much to discover—he called it his need to be “rescued from his ignorance.” He viewed it in a positive way.

In what looked like a major oversight, Stack’s Bowers Galleries, in its January 24, 2013 Americana auction catalog, omitted Rusty Goe’s name from the team of catalogers that created the company’s historic Battle Born auction catalog in 2012. Stack’s Bowers also failed to cite Rusty Goe for the commentary of his its cataloger used in the description of the 1876-CC twenty-cent piece in the 2013 Americana catalog.
The company issued a statement on its website and in an E-newsletter sent to everyone on its mailing list that admitted the oversight and recognized Rusty Goe’s contribution to the Americana catalog description, and to the success of the Battle Born auction catalog. Stack’s Bowers said it meant no disrespect to Goe.

With the historic sale of the Battle Born collection of Carson City coins in the rearview, along with two stellar club meetings in August 2012, this issue packed a wallop for readers and Carson City coin enthusiasts.

A complete set of Carson City Mint coins, including the unique
1873-CC Seated Liberty, No Arrows dime (shown), is scheduled
to be auctioned by Stack’s Bowers Galleries at the ANA’s World’s
Fair of Money in August. The set will be on display at the FUN
convention in Orlando, Fla., in January.

All of our C4OA members will be happy to hear that Southgate Coins assistant manager Maya Roberts gave birth to baby Embry on Monday January 18. This is Maya's first child. We wish her and her new daughter all the best.
Congratulations to Maya and Matt on this special addition to their family!
]]>Following is an ad that appeared in the July 2009 issue of The Numismatist to publicize the C4OA's Carson City Coin symposium scheduled for August 6 at the ANA's World's Fair of Money convention in Los Angeles. Special speakers include Bill Bugert, John McCloskey, Darrell Low and Rusty Goe.
]]>Rusty Goe, our president, built the site, knowing that our club was not able to afford such a luxury. Besides all his other duties, running Southgate Coins, writing articles, scheduling lectures, editing and printing Curry’s Chronicle quarterly, Oh, and finding some of the rarest Carson City coins on the planet, he sacrificed several months of his time to design and build a website for C4OA!
I (Marie) invite you to enjoy the new website. It has great features which are available, such as a news and articles page, images of some of the finest coins, and helpful links.
The C4OA website is linked with our blogsite, which has been in operation for several years, thanks to Otto Klay. The blogsite allows members to post news, comments, and coin images.
The new site also has a discussion board that allows members to discuss topics of interest. I hope these two features allow lots of enjoyment and camaraderie as a community of Carson City coin lovers.
This new website should give our club a real opportunity to share the exciting joy and passion of our great love of Carson City coins. We will need to have older members help new members to learn how to use these features so we can have maximum participation.
We give a hearty thanks to you, Rusty, for dedicating so much of your time and resources toward creating a platform for all of us to be a part of.
