This is a close-up photo of my 1878-CC seated quarter dollar semi-cancelled die variety (NGC MS-65 toned) showing the detailed area of the raised die line. Notice the very visible line going slightly at a diagonal across miss Liberty's midrift and making a "T" at the base of her flag staff.

I understand that in the old days of coin grading this semi-cancelled die line was often mistaken for a surface scratch on the coin.

Thanks Coindrummer! It's great that these coins are being preserved as they are. I can imagine there are many of this variety with the die lines worn away.

Here's my beauty:

I'll have to work to get a close-up image of the X, but you can just barely see the line in the gown fold by Ms. Liberty's right arm.

What is the grade of that coin, Maya? That is just a beauty of a coin. I can see the line also. Both of those coins are just awesome. I need to get one of those someday.. I will add it to my long list :woohoo:
