Auction Prices was created by mcfly65202
Here's a few prices from The Scotsman Auction in St. Louis on July 24, 2009. Pricing includes Buyers Premium.
1) 1876CC Dime PCGS MS-66 Lot# 592
Spectaculary white, with a powerful strike that imparted
nearly every detail off the dies. Although frosty overall
and not really prooflike, this dime benefits from a hint
of cameo contrast due to the devices being even more
heavily frosted than the surrounding fields, and the
whole coin provides a stark icy-frost appearance that any
collector will find appealing. Nicely clashed, with a
prominent repunched mintmark........................$2415
2) 1877CC Quarter NGC MS-64 Lot# 642
While Briggs-1A is easy to attribute (though NGC chose not
to do so) by the broadly punched 7s in the date (your
cataloguer suggest the last is actually triple-punched),
extensive die clashes are also diagnostic of the variety.
In addition, there are spindly die cracks on each side, and
Liberty's portrait suffers the effects of die rust. A great
variety for anyone who enjoys something extra for their
coins! Besides this, the NGC MS-64 grade is a little under-
stated, as this shinig and mostly white coin features
terrific luster and brilliant eye appeal...........$1322.50
3) 1878CC Quarter NGC MS-64 Lot# 644
A conservative grade of just MS-64 seems to understate the
considerable eye appeal of this flashy and frosty white
Carson City quarter. Hardly any details failed to be
brought up by the energetic strike, and all the stars and
denticles are fully defined. The grade was perhaps
determined by a singular bagmark floating out in the right
obverse field, yet "crackout" seems to be written all over
this slab..........................................$1667.50

Thanks to Scotsman Auction Company for allowing me to reprinted the descriptions.

Mcfly...

I have not seen much, if any, dip in auction prices for CC coins during the current recession, except perhaps the most common dates.

What did you think of those prices?....

Like I told you at the regional meeting Mcfly, I would have paid much higher prices for these coins if I had known about the auction---even if I had to bid sight unseen. These prices are real bargains.

Carsonite,

There's another auction coming up in October. Scotsman has them two and occasionally three times a year. I'll. get a catalogue to you and I'll definitely be at the auction.

Scotsman Coin Auctions can be found at www.scoins.com . Just click on the "Featured Item", then you can select the denomination from the dropdown menu.

I'll definitely be at the auction which is October 16. This next week, I'll be at Scotsman taking a closer look. Let me know if any of you want me to take an "up close and personal look" at anything. Also, I'll be sending a catalog to Southgate when they become available (usually about 2 to 3 weeks before the auction).
