George H. Bell

Born: June 1844 in New York

Died: January 24, 1901 in Carson City, NV

Occupation: Accountant; also served as postmaster in Carson City (see P.M. after his name on check)

Enlisted in the Union Army in 1862 in Company G, 52nd Massachusetts volunteers at the age of 17 1/2. Was discharged in August 1863.

Bell was one of the best known citizens in Carson City where he held many bookkeeping and clerical positions. He was a member of Carson's branch of the Grand Army of the Republic.
